Most luxury cars look serious both inside and out. But sometimes, you find one that feels like a party inside. That's exactly the case with this bold Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, which recently got special upgrades from the tuning experts at Brabus.
Brabus 850: A Blacked-Out Beast
This customized car is called the Brabus 850, based on the Mercedes-Maybach S 680. It now wears an all-black look with no shiny chrome parts. The wheels are new and much bigger than the ones on the regular S 680.
At the front, it has a subtle new bumper design, and at the back, there's a fresh diffuser and a ducktail spoiler on the trunk lid. All these extra parts are made from carbon fiber. These changes give the luxury sedan a more sporty and aggressive style.
To clarify, this is a Brabus creation; the car has the Brabus logo above the left taillight and an 850 badge on the right. That number shows off the increased power under the hood.
Big Power Boost From Brabus
The Brabus 850 makes 850 metric horsepower (838 brake horsepower or 625 kW), thanks to some engine upgrades. It also produces 811 pound-feet of torque (or 1,100 Nm). That's a big jump from the stock version.
With this much power, the car can go from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.1 seconds. While that's impressive, the regular S 680 is actually a bit quicker at 3.7 seconds. Both versions have the same top speed: 155 mph (250 km/h).
The engine is still a strong 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12, which is rare today when most cars are hybrid or electric. In its original form, this V12 makes 621 horsepower (630 ps or 463 kW) and 664 pound-feet of torque (900 Nm).
Bold Interior: Luxury Meets Purple
The biggest surprise is inside the car. Instead of using a classic color like black or beige, Brabus reupholstered the interior in purple. That's right—bright purple leather is everywhere.
You'll see the color on the seats, dashboard, steering wheel, center console, doors, headliner, and more. The seats even feature fancy diamond quilting, adding to the premium feel. Carbon fiber trim pieces are also added inside, matching the sporty look of the exterior.
This may not be the usual style in a Maybach, but it looks good. We wouldn't mind driving it—and if you like it, Brabus can make a similar one for you, too. But ask yourself: Would you drive a black Maybach with a purple interior?
