The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE eclipses all previous models as the most powerful GLC ever made. It comes with 671 horsepower from its plug-in hybrid engine. But for some people, that's not enough. That includes Brabus, a tuning company from Bottrop, Germany. They upgraded the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine to make 720 horsepower.
This is even more than the McLaren 720S, but keep in mind that the GLC is a lot heavier. Still, with the Brabus PowerXtra B20E-730 upgrade, the GLC 63 goes 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.3 seconds. The stock version does it in 3.5 seconds, so this is a real speed boost.
Torque Increase and Upgrade Details
Brabus also increased the torque. It now delivers 1,120 Newton meters, or about 826 pound-feet, 100 more Nm than the original AMG version. The PowerXtra B20E-730 is a piggyback control unit that boosts only the turbo engine's power.
This upgrade costs €8,211 or around USD 8,625, depending on the exchange rate. Like the stock version, the top speed is still limited to 275 km/h (171 mph).
Brabus 730 GLC 63 Wheels and Styling
The name Brabus 730 comes from the total system output in metric horsepower. Buyers can also add stylish 21-inch or 22-inch wheels. The model shown has 22-inch Monoblock Z Platinum Edition forged wheels with 10 spokes. The front wheels are 22x9.5 inches, and the rear wheels are 22x10.5 inches.
Carbon Fiber Visual Upgrades
Brabus offers a full range of carbon-fiber styling parts for the GLC 63. For example:
- Front grille inserts
- Lip spoiler
- Front bumper garnishes
- Rear diffuser
These parts are available in either gloss or matte finish at no extra cost. Brabus also sells aluminum hub caps and valve caps to complete the exterior look.
Interior Upgrades and Custom Mats
Inside the car, Brabus adds aluminum pedals and two styles of illuminated kick plates. To make the trunk and floor feel more premium, you can get:
- Brabus velour trunk mat
- Velour floor mats with an embroidered B logo, Brabus lettering, silver piping, and silver stitching
Final Thoughts on the Brabus 730 GLC 63
The Brabus 730 GLC 63 is fast, stylish, and powerful. But it still uses a four-cylinder engine, even though it's a top AMG model on a rear-wheel biased platform. Some fans may prefer the upcoming V8 hybrid engine expected in the future Mercedes-AMG CLE 63. That V8 may replace the current four-cylinder in the GLC 63 and C 63 during their next updates.
